Its not easy to confront a friend and ask about shoplifting. Try saying that you're concerned, and that you don't want your friend to get hurt in the long run. There are numerous resources available to break the habit. Suggest the Shoplifting Prevention and Education Support Group. This is where people who experience the urge to shoplift can attend meetings, talk about what is causing this behavior and ultimately seek help to stop shoplifting. If your friend won't stop, be sure you avoid shopping together. If your friend is caught shoplifting, and you are with him/her you will be under suspicion too and you may suffer some of the same consequences.
